I can't assert someone else's rights, and I'm agender in a cismale-perception-conforming way, but I think I'd be able to use it as an example of how the policy does not match practice, over multiple years, and how forced AIT would discriminate against people with medical issues (… which I know is a problematic framing, but at least gets it within the Rehabilitation Act, like me).

LMK by email if yes. No worries if no; I know it would be very stressful to do. In any case, thank you for sharing your experiences here.

I hope that my work will make a little bit more of a difference than a word change. Unfortunately I don't think there's much legal option right now that's better for trans people than "pick AIT or patdown", neither of which is a particularly good option for you. At least if I win you won't be subjected to a mandate that you go through AIT in the first place. I suppose that's at least a little bit of benefit..Saihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03739388738784182261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-906442678610585215.post-33265908402111070772016-01-14T08:53:25.832-08:002016-01-14T08:53:25.832-08:00I'm one of the only two people in the US curre...I'm one of the only two people in the US currently suing TSA to stop this. Since then, recognition has grown that often being trans is indeed a medically treated issue (or in this case a medically 'atypical' issue). Perhaps Kate Lynn Blatt's lawsuit against Cabella's is relevant, should she prevail? If so, it seems the ADA might well be applied to NSA airport screenings for trans people as well, just as prosthetics and other neural-atypical people are granted accommodations by law.
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/special-procedures
franceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13267144201115512650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-906442678610585215.post-43563307775386332812016-01-07T15:24:55.792-08:002016-01-07T15:24:55.792-08:00TSA pat-downs the greatest hits

I've only flown once since transitioning to male myself, from San Francisco to Seattle, and fortunately did not set off any alarms. I don't bind or pack, currently, and my breasts are on the small side. But our body parts and accessories should not make any difference whatsoever, when it comes to being treated with basic human dignity.

I'm flying again in March (to/from the same cities), and really not looking forward to it. I'm wondering whether the agent will push the pink or blue button when I come through the gate. I've been on testosterone for two years as of today, and still got misgendered this morning, beard stubble and all, so how I get read two months from now is anyone's guess.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
